LicensePath ("we," "our," "the app") is an independent state insurance-licensing exam-prep product. This page explains what data we collect, why, how you can control it, and how to export or delete it. LicensePath is not a government entity and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any state government, state insurance department, or regulatory agency, or with Pearson VUE.
What we collect
- Account information. If you create a cloud account, we collect the email address and authentication method you use to sign in: a password, or Google/Apple sign-in.
- Study and learning data. Your diagnostic results, practice-session answers, flashcard recall history, exam simulations, bookmarks, streaks, and preferences, so your progress can sync across devices and power personalized readiness and recommendations.
- Device-sync identifier. A random identifier generated and stored on your device (not your name or email) that's attached to your synced study data so we can tell devices apart and merge progress correctly across the devices you sign into. It's only sent to our servers when you're signed into a cloud account.
- Product analytics. Anonymous, allow-listed usage events (e.g. screen views, feature usage) that help us understand what's working. Question text and your specific answers are never sent as analytics properties.
- Crash diagnostics. Technical error reports used to find and fix reliability problems.
How we use it
- To run the core features of the app: diagnostics, adaptive practice, spaced-repetition review, progress tracking, and exam simulation.
- To sync your study data across your devices when you're signed in.
- To maintain and improve the product and fix bugs.
- To manage subscription entitlements if you purchase Premium.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. Your data is processed by the infrastructure providers that run the app:
- Supabase: our backend database and authentication provider. Your learning data is protected by row-level security rules that keep it private to your account; public curriculum content (questions, lessons) is read-only for all users.
- RevenueCat: processes and validates purchases if you buy Premium through the App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat receives an app user ID (your account ID if you're signed in, or a random anonymous ID if you're not), along with purchase details such as the product purchased, purchase date, transaction ID, and entitlement status, so it can confirm your purchase with Apple/Google and keep your subscription active. RevenueCat does not receive your study content, and your card details are handled entirely by Apple/Google and RevenueCat, never by our servers.
Your controls
From Settings → Privacy Center inside the app, you can:
- Turn product analytics off.
- Turn crash diagnostics off.
- Export a portable JSON copy of your data: profile, learning history, bookmarks, exam history, recall progress, and preferences.
- Request permanent deletion of your cloud account and its associated learning data.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Authentication tokens are kept separate from the ordinary study-data sync path. Our persisted-state layer actively rejects secret-like fields (passwords, access tokens, API keys) so they can never end up stored alongside your study data.
Children's privacy
LicensePath is built for adults studying for a professional insurance licensing exam. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
